Pageturn Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Sippey LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("Pageturn," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you use the Pageturn website at pageturn.app, our mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

This Policy is incorporated into and subject to our Terms of Service. By using the Service, you acknowledge this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Who This Policy Applies To

This Policy applies to visitors and registered users of the Service. It does not apply to third-party websites, services, or products that we do not control, even if they are linked from the Service (see Section 11).

The Service is intended for users 13 years of age and older. See Section 12 for our children's-privacy practices.

3. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information:

3.1 Information You Provide at Sign-Up

When you create an account, we collect the information you provide, which currently includes your email address, and a username or display name. You may also choose to add optional profile information, such as a profile photo or bio.

Social sign-in (planned). In the future, we may offer the ability to sign in using third-party providers such as Google, Apple, or Facebook. If you use one of those options, we would receive basic profile information from that provider (typically your name, email address, and, where applicable, profile photo), according to that provider's permissions and your settings. We would not receive your password for those services.

3.2 Content You Create

We collect the content you submit to the Service, including books you post, comments and reviews you write, ratings, lists, and books you save privately. (See Section 6 for what is public versus private.)

3.3 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Service, we automatically collect certain technical and usage information, which may include: IP address, device and browser type, operating system, device identifiers, referring/exit pages, pages and content viewed, features used, actions taken, and the dates/times of your activity. We collect this using cookies and similar technologies (see Section 7).

3.4 Information From Third Parties

We may receive information about you from service providers that help us operate the Service, such as hosting and infrastructure providers and analytics providers (see Section 9). If we enable social sign-in in the future, we would also receive basic profile information from the provider you choose (see Section 3.1).

We do not intentionally collect special categories of sensitive personal information (such as government IDs, precise geolocation, health, or financial account information), and we ask that you not submit such information through the Service.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including creating your account and showing your feed;
• Enable you to post, comment, save books, and interact with other users;
• Personalize and improve the Service and develop new features;
• Communicate with you, including sending service-related and administrative messages;
• Monitor and analyze usage and trends to understand how the Service is used;
• Detect, prevent, and address spam, abuse, fraud, security incidents, and violations of our Terms;
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements; and
• Protect the rights, property, and safety of Pageturn, our users, and the public.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use your information to serve third-party targeted advertising.

5. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, maintain security, and understand and analyze how the Service is used.

We use these categories:

• Strictly necessary — required to operate the Service and keep you signed in.
• Preferences — remember your settings and choices.
• Analytics — help us measure and improve the Service (first-party and/or via our analytics provider).

You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect how the Service works. We do not use cookies for third-party advertising.

6. What Is Public and What Is Private

• Public: Your profile (including your username or display name, and profile photo or bio if you add one), the books you post, and your comments and reviews are public and visible to other users and, depending on settings, to the general internet.
• Private: Books you save privately are visible only to you.

Please be thoughtful about what you post. Content you make public may be viewed, copied, and shared by others, and may appear in search engine results.

7. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these circumstances:

• Service providers (subprocessors). With vendors who process data on our behalf to operate the Service, under contracts that limit their use of the information. Our current categories of service providers are listed in the Subprocessors appendix below.
• With other users. Public content is shared with other users as described in Section 6.
• Legal and safety. When we believe disclosure is necessary to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to enforce our Terms; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Pageturn, our users, or others.
• Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred, subject to this Policy.
• With your consent. When you direct or authorize us to share it.

We may also share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, and thereafter as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it. Residual copies may remain in backups for a limited period.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.

10. Your Choices and Rights

Regardless of where you live, you can:

• Access and update your account information through your account settings;
• Delete your account and data at any time by using in-app controls or emailing us at support@pageturn.app;
• Control cookies through your browser; and
• Opt out of non-essential emails using the unsubscribe link (we will still send necessary service messages).

11. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, gives you the rights described below.

11.1 Categories of Personal Information We Collect

In the past 12 months, we have collected the following categories (as defined by the CCPA):

• Identifiers (e.g., name, email address, IP address, account/device identifiers);
• Internet or other electronic network activity (e.g., usage data, interactions with the Service);
• Visual information (profile photo, if you choose to add one);
• User-generated content (posts, comments, reviews, saved books); and
• Inferences drawn to personalize and improve the Service.

We collect these from you, from your device automatically, and from our sign-in and service providers (Section 3). We use them for the purposes in Section 4.

11.2 We Do Not Sell or Share Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California law. We have not done so in the preceding 12 months. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.

11.3 Your California Rights

Subject to legal limits, you have the right to:

• Know/Access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected;
• Delete personal information we have collected from you;
• Correct inaccurate personal information;
• Opt out of any sale or sharing (not applicable, as we do neither); and
• Non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

11.4 How to Exercise Your Rights

Submit a request by emailing support@pageturn.app. We will verify your identity before responding, typically by confirming information associated with your account. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf with proper authorization. We aim to respond within the timeframes required by law (generally 45 days, extendable).

11.5 Shine the Light

California's "Shine the Light" law permits California residents to request information about disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing.

12. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us at support@pageturn.app. See our Terms of Service for age requirements.

13. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may link to third-party sites and services (for example, booksellers). We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their privacy policies before providing information.

14. International Users

Pageturn is operated in the United States, and your information will be processed in the United States, which may have data-protection laws different from those in your country. By using the Service, you understand your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide reasonable notice (for example, by posting the updated Policy with a new "Last updated" date, or by notifying you through the Service or email). Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
